MANILA — In an entrapment operation, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) apprehended three individuals who were allegedly involved in selling counterfeit complimentary tickets for the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

These suspects were peddling tickets at prices ranging from P500 to P1,500, claiming they provided access to all 10 movies featured in the festival.

Upon discovering the illicit online sales, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) promptly notified the police, leading to the entrapment operation.

The apprehension took place in Barangay Escopa 1, where the suspects were sequentially arrested after accepting marked money from undercover operatives in exchange for the fraudulent MMFF complimentary tickets.

The accused individuals now face charges of estafa through falsification of public documents and violation of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

The MMDA, in response to this incident, expressed its intention to enhance the security features of their tickets.
