Five boxing title matches are set to take place at the ‘Bakbakan sa Masbate 2,’ as Filipino boxers are set to take on fellow countrymen and international fighters at the Masbate Lagoon, Matayum, in Masbate on June 22, 2024.
The main event will be for the WBC Asia Continental Super Featherweight Championship between current champion Arnon Upang from Thailand and challenger Masbate’s Jose Santisima at 130 pounds.
Jon Jon Estrada from Parañaque and Michael Dasmariñas from Camarines Sur are also set to battle at 126 pounds for the vacant Philippine featherweight title.
The fight for the vacant WBC Asia Flyweight title at 112 pounds is also set between Esneth Domingo of Masbate and Nutlia Lalbiakkima of India.
The vacant WBF International Super Flyweight title is also up for grabs and will be fought by Bienvinido Ligas of Parañaque and Alvin Camique of General Santos City at 115 pounds.
Alex Santisima of Masbate and Jastine Darap of Calbayog City are also going to battle it out for the vacant WBF Australasian Super Flyweight title at 122 pounds.
Supporting battles are also set between Arvin John Sampaga of Masbate and Ramcie Mondala of Parañaque at 107 pounds in eight rounds; Rey Dogelio of La Union and Erwin Banta of Batangas at 126 pounds in six rounds; and Reycar Auxillo of Cebu and Remon Basas of Laguna at 126 pounds in six rounds.
Preliminary matches are also set between Rey Gabriel Villamor of Masbate and Gilbert Vere of Calbayog City at 122 pounds in four rounds, and Ken Daniella of Parañaque and Ronald Blanco of Palawan at 135 pounds in four rounds.
The second edition of Bakbakan is set to be Masbate Governor Antonio Kho’s realization as a promoter of international boxing.
The event is set to take place alongside the province’s annual Bagat-Dagat Festival. The third installment of Bakbakan is set to take place in Cebu in December 2024.
