MANILA — Vice President Sara Duterte assured the public that she continues to fulfill her responsibilities as the Philippines’ second-highest official, even while in the Netherlands to support her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte.

Her statement came in response to Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro’s remark, suggesting that the younger Duterte should prioritize serving her fellow Filipinos in the Philippines.

“Hindi ko nakakalimutan ang aking trabaho diyan sa Office of the Vice President. Araw-araw kami nag-uusap ng aking mga kasamahan,” said Duterte.

“As Vice President, I also have a duty to help a fellow Filipino citizen who is currently being held against his will at the ICC detention center,” she added.

VP Sara emphasized that, in her role, she is actively working to assist a fellow Filipino’s return to the country.

“Huwag na nating isipin na tatay ko siya. Isipin na lang natin na Vice President ako at gumagawa ako ng paraan paano maibalik natin ang isang Filipino citizen sa ating bayan,” she stated.
