MANILA — Typhoon Carina, which enhanced rains across the country, has resulted in seven confirmed deaths and two injuries, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). The circumstances of the fatalities are still being verified.
The fatalities include four individuals from Region 9 (Zamboanga), and one each from Regions 10 (Northern Mindanao), 11 (Davao), and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). The injured were reported in Region 10.
The disaster has affected approximately 179,744 families or 866,483 individuals. BARMM is the hardest hit with 110,648 families or 553,241 people affected, followed by Region 12 (SOCCSKSARGEN) with 47,892 families or 233,322 people. Regions 6 (Western Visayas), 7 (Central Visayas), and Caraga were also impacted.
