MANILA – The death toll from Typhoon Aghon has risen to six, according to a report by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Thursday (30 May 2024).
The fatalities include five individuals from Calabarzon and one from Northern Mindanao. The NDRRMC’s situation report reveals that four victims succumbed to critical injuries caused by fallen trees, while the other two died of asphyxia due to drowning.
The council has confirmed one injury, with seven other reported injuries still under validation.
Typhoon Aghon has impacted 16,404 families, amounting to 51,848 individuals across 364 barangays in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and the National Capital Region.
Currently, 3,878 families (14,816 individuals) are housed in 185 evacuation centers, while 1,585 families (6,409 individuals) are receiving assistance outside these centers.
The number of damaged houses stands at 22, with 18 partially damaged and four destroyed.
The government has distributed assistance worth PHP 6.7 million to affected families in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Central Visayas, and Eastern Visayas. This aid includes accommodation and transportation services, family food packs, food assistance, hygiene kits, hot meals, packed meals, and other relief items.
