MANILA – Actor and Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary Commodore Gerald Anderson was awarded the Search and Rescue medal by PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan in a ceremony at the PCG headquarters in Port Area, Manila on Thursday. Anderson was recognized for rescuing civilians trapped by severe flooding in Quezon City during Super Typhoon Carina last month.

PCG Auxiliary National Director Vice Admiral Jorge Lim also praised Anderson for his ongoing support of PCGA initiatives. PCG spokesperson Rear Admiral Armando Balilo highlighted Anderson’s active participation in humanitarian and disaster response efforts, noting his contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic and relief operations in Marawi and Zambales.

Anderson, who joined the PCGA in 2016 and was promoted to Commodore in 2021, has consistently supported PCG missions alongside actress PCGA Ensign Julia Barretto and other members. Their efforts include donating school supplies to children on Pag-Asa Island.

The PCGA, a non-governmental volunteer organization, assists the PCG in promoting maritime safety and conducting civic, relief, and rescue activities.
