MANILA – The northeast monsoon, or “amihan,” continues to affect much of Luzon, while the shear line impacts the eastern Visayas, bringing widespread rain.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday (20 Mar 2025), cloud clusters along the shear line are causing heavy rainfall in parts of the Visayas, Mimaropa, and the Bicol Region.
The rest of eastern Visayas and neighboring provinces are also expected to see rain.
PAGASA forecasts scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the Visayas, Caraga, Sorsogon, and Masbate, caused by easterlies. Meanwhile, Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Aurora, Quezon, and the Bicol Region will experience rain due to the “amihan.”
Isolated light rains are expected across the rest of Luzon, with thunderstorms due to the easterlies in other regions.
In addition, strong winds and rough seas are predicted over northern Luzon and the eastern parts of southern Luzon and the Visayas. The rest of Luzon will face moderate to strong winds and rough coastal waters, while other areas will experience light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas.
