MANILA — An ordinance aimed at preventing incidents of road rage has been filed in the Quezon City Council.
QC Fifth District Councilor Aiko Melendez introduced the ordinance following a recent incident in Makati where a road altercation resulted in a shooting incident.
According to the ordinance, drivers with licensed firearms must be responsible gun owners and refrain from using their weapons violently.
Additionally, Melendez emphasized that the process of renewing and granting firearm licenses should be made more stringent.
If passed, the ordinance will impose a fine of P25,000 for a first-offense violation.
Melendez is confident that the council will support the proposal to ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians in the city.
