MANILA — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has launched the Advanced Passenger Information System (APIS) to strengthen national security through digital transformation.
Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said APIS is a globally recognized system that enables authorities to conduct advanced screening of passengers before their arrival, allowing for enhanced risk assessment and more efficient immigration procedures.
Cebu Pacific is the first airline to fully integrate its system with APIS, she noted.
Moreover, Castro stated that other major airlines, including Philippine Airlines (PAL), will be required to integrate APIS into their systems once the initial implementation proves seamless and error-free.
“Kapag po naging smooth na po ang lahat, once everything is smooth, lahat po ng airlines ima-mandatory na po na magsagawa na rin po ng APIS,” the Palace official said.
