MANILA — Heavy rainfall from Typhoon Carina and the enhanced southwest monsoon (‘habagat’) grounded seven international and nine domestic flights on Wednesday (24 July 2024), according to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA).

Royal Air’s flight RW 130 from Da Nang to Manila was diverted to Clark.

The weather bureau predicts heavy rains and strong winds in Luzon due to Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon through Wednesday.

Carina is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Wednesday night or Thursday morning and will make landfall over northern Taiwan on Wednesday afternoon or evening.
