MANILA – The Senate and House of Representatives suspended their work on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, due to heavy rains dumped by Typhoon Carina.

Senate President Chiz Escudero announced the suspension of work due to inclement weather and the deep flooding at the Senate entrance.

“Given the continuous inclement weather caused by the Southwest Monsoon and Typhoon Carina, the deep flood at the Senate entrance, and the forecast for medium to heavy rains over Metro Manila and nearby areas, Senate President Francis ‘Chiz’ G. Escudero has declared the suspension of work at the Senate today, July 24, 2024,” the advisory read.

The session will resume at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 29.

The House of Representatives made a similar announcement.

“Work in the House of Representatives is suspended today, July 24, 2024, given the forecasted continuous rainfall brought by the Southwest Monsoon and Typhoon Carina,” read their statement.
