MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday confirmed that the body found near a pier in Hong Kong was a Filipino national.
In a statement, DFA spokesperson Ma. Teresita Daza said the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong is now in touch with the deceased’s family.
The agency has yet to determine the cause of death but said the Consulate General is in close coordination with the Hong Kong Police authorities and will share all results with the next of kin accordingly.
The Consulate will also assist in the repatriation of the remains and is now working with the employer.
Local reports said a passerby discovered the body floating near the Tsing Yi Public Pier in Hong Kong on Thursday morning.
The deceased was initially identified as a 51-year-old Filipino woman, who was wearing sportswear when found. (PNA)
