MANILA – House Speaker Martin Romualdez marked Eid’l Fitr as a moment for reflection, thanksgiving, and renewed faith, as he extended his heartfelt greetings to Filipino Muslims across the nation.

“This is a time for reflection and thanksgiving as we celebrate the end of Ramadan, and the renewal of our faith,” Romualdez said in a statement on Monday.

He commended the dedication and sacrifices made by Filipino Muslims throughout the month-long fasting period, recognizing their deep spiritual commitment. “May your devotion and sacrifices bring blessings, strengthened faith, and renewed hope to all,” Romualdez added. “Let this day usher in peace, prosperity, and divine grace.”

Romualdez also emphasized the importance of unity, compassion, and generosity – values that strengthen national solidarity. “Eid’l Fitr is a reminder of how these virtues bind us together as a nation, fostering understanding among Filipinos of all faiths.”

He acknowledged the significant role Muslim communities play in shaping the nation’s future, urging continued commitment to peace, progress, and nation-building.

“In the House of Representatives, we reaffirm our commitment to policies that ensure equality, respect, and opportunity for all. We will continue to support initiatives that uplift Muslim Filipinos and protect your rights and aspirations,” Romualdez stated.

Romualdez encouraged Filipinos to embrace diversity and unity as pillars of strength for the nation.

On Sunday evening, Bangsamoro Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulrauf Guialani declared that Eid’l Fitr would be observed on Monday, following the sighting of the crescent moon in the Bangsamoro Region. In observance, Monday was declared a regular non-working day in the region.

Malacañang has also declared Tuesday, April 1, a national holiday in celebration of Eid’l Fitr.
