MANILA — Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin stated on Monday (03 Feb 2025) that the House of Representatives holds the exclusive prerogative to act on impeachment complaints.
“The power to initiate and act on impeachment complaints is the sole prerogative of the House,” Bersamin said.
“Out of respect for institutions, the President will not interfere in matters over which a co-equal branch has exclusive jurisdiction,” he added.
House Secretary General Reginald Velasco assured that the House will address the three impeachment complaints filed against Vice President Sara Duterte this week.
This comes amid calls from the groups that filed the complaints to have them transmitted for discussion.
Velasco also emphasized that ample time has been given for those wishing to file a fourth impeachment complaint.
