MANILA — Senator Jinggoy Estrada expressed disappointment over the Sandiganbayan’s decision to reject his appeal regarding the graft charges against him.
In a 99-page resolution, the anti-graft court denied his appeal to dismiss 11 counts of graft related to the alleged misuse of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).
Estrada stated he was disheartened by the outcome, especially since the Sandiganbayan had previously upheld its earlier ruling clearing him of any involvement in the PDAF misuse.
“I am saddened by this turn of events, considering that the Sandiganbayan had already cleared my name of any involvement in the alleged misuse of the PDAF,” he said.
The senator indicated his intention to file a Motion for Reconsideration before the anti-graft court.
“While this may be a setback in my ongoing efforts to prove my innocence, nothing stops me from exercising my right to pursue all legal remedies, including filing a motion for reconsideration with the anti-graft court. I continue to have faith in the fairness of our justice system, and I believe that, in the end, the truth will prevail.”
“Despite these legal challenges, I am duty-bound to fulfill my responsibilities as a Senator of the Republic, and I will do so until this legal battle is resolved.”
