MANILA – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecasts fair weather across most parts of the country on Thursday (09 May 2024).

PAGASA forecaster Rhea Torres mentioned, “Most areas in the country will continue to experience warm, humid, generally fair weather.”

Localized thunderstorms may occur in the afternoon or evening, Torres added.

Cloud clusters have been monitored in Northern Luzon, which could lead to scattered rains.

PAGASA predicts a frontal system to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Batanes and Cagayan.

Moderate to heavy rains in these areas could trigger flash floods or landslides, PAGASA cautioned.

Meanwhile, at least 25 locations are expected to experience dangerous heat index levels, peaking at 45 degrees in Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Virac, Catanduanes; and Roxas City, Capiz.

Heat indices, ranging from 42°C to 44°C, are likely in several areas:

Puerto Princesa City, Palawan
Aborlan, Palawan
Cuyo, Palawan
Laoag City, Ilocos Norte
MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte

PAGASA cautioned that under dangerous heat index levels, heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke are likely with continued exposure.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas are expected over the northern and western sections of Northern Luzon. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, according to PAGASA.
