Globe continues to provide support for communities affected by Mayon Volcano’s unrest, donating P300,000 worth of 50kg rice sacks to the Office of Albay 2nd District Rep. Joey Salceda.
The contribution was turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional command center at the DPWH 2DEO Planning Warehouse in Washington Drive, Legazpi City.
The donation will supply relief packs for families affected by continuing activity of the Mayon Volcano, which remains under Alert Level 3. Many residents in the 6-kilometer permanent danger zone remain in evacuation centers as the unrest persists.
Through this donation, Globe is not only strengthening its role in supporting disaster response but also helping facilitate a more centralized relief operation led by the DSWD. This strategic alignment with government efforts will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of assistance to those in need.
“We are committed to supporting the local government and national government agencies in their efforts to provide immediate relief to communities affected by the Mayon Volcano unrest,” said Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer, Globe Group.
“As a trusted technology partner, we are utilizing our resources to meet the needs of the moment, and to help ensure that essential lifelines of food and social services are maintained during this challenging time,” she added.
Earlier, Globe provided connectivity support through Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging, and Libreng WiFi booths in Daraga, Guinobatan, and Malilipot. Globe Prepaid and TM users in affected communities also got free one-day access to unlimited calls and text to all networks and 100MB of data and another 100MB access for Facebook, Viber, Whatsapp and Twitter. Globe Mobile Postpaid and Globe At Home Postpaid users were also given billing reprieve through extended bill due dates.
KonsultaMD also provided free teleconsultation through the KonsultaMD app.
