MANILA — The government is ready for the transportation strike by the Manibela group, scheduled from March 24 to 26.

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon announced that additional buses will be deployed along the EDSA busway, and extra trains will run on the MRT3, LRT1, and LRT2.

Dizon also mentioned that the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will offer free bus rides.

Meanwhile, the DOTr chief urged transport groups to reconsider holding strikes, as they significantly affect commuters.

“We call on our fellow countrymen, who are already struggling with their daily commute, to avoid striking. Instead, let’s have a dialogue to help the new DOTr leadership understand their concerns,” he said.

The DOTr is seeking to hold discussions with the Manibela transport group regarding their planned three-day strike.

Several schools have already suspended face-to-face classes due to the strike.
