MANILA – According to the weather bureau on Saturday (15 June 2024), the southwest monsoon, locally known as “habagat,” will bring scattered rains to parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.
In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that the southwest monsoon will affect Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan, causing scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. PAGASA cautioned that moderate to heavy rains could trigger flash floods or landslides in these areas.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized weather patterns. Severe thunderstorms may also lead to flash floods or landslides in susceptible regions.
Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas are expected across the archipelago.
