MANILA — Lured by the promise of a monthly salary of P60,000, four Filipinos disguised as tourists were escorted by a 38-year-old woman who had recruited them to work as encoders for a company involved in POGO-type operations in Cambodia.

However, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) apprehended them at the Clark International Airport (CIA) on Christmas Day.

“We’ve seen many victims who have been forced into working as scammers abroad. Don’t let this happen to you—don’t fall for the traps set by these syndicates,” said BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado.

In a statement on Thursday (26 December 2024), the BI revealed that the four victims and the recruiter were intercepted while attempting to board a Singapore-bound flight.

The female escort admitted to assisting the victims in entering Singapore, where they were to be transferred to Cambodia.
