MANILA — Senator Imee Marcos officially filed her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, for her reelection bid.

She was accompanied by her mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, and her two sons.

Earlier, Imee Marcos withdrew from her brother President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s senatorial slate, opting to run as an independent candidate.

“Pinili kong maging malaya para hindi na ako kakampi kung kanino man, laban pa sa iba. Mas maiigi na piliin na lang natin ang sambayanang Pilipino,” she explained.

Before heading to Manila Hotel to file her COC, Imee and her mother visited Malate Catholic Church.

Marcos also shared how eager her mother was to be part of the filing process.

“‘Yung nanay ko excited, hindi nakatulog ‘yan. Ala singko natulog, biglang nariyan na. Ala syete nasa simbahan na, nakikidasal. At inaasahan ko na talagang ‘yung swerte at wisdom niya sa pulitika ay maibigay rin sa akin,” she said.
