MANILA — The Japanese Embassy in Manila is working to process visa applications within five days despite a continued rise in Filipino tourists wishing to visit Japan. The embassy emphasized that travelers should still submit applications two months in advance.

As part of the effort, the embassy is transitioning its screening system to streamline the process. This move comes as Japan sees an unprecedented surge in tourism-related visa requests.

The embassy also reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to strengthening its ties with the Philippines, underscoring the importance of people-to-people exchanges in their bilateral relations.

For official, business, or long-term stay visas, the embassy will follow the same procedures as before.

In January, Rajah Travel Corporation reported that all daily slots for Japan tourist visas were fully booked. This month, the embassy announced the opening of “limited additional slots” for tourist visa applications. They reassured the public that efforts would continue to process and return visas within five working days after submission to accredited travel agencies.
