MANILA – A security guard at Laoag International Airport (LIA) found a bag containing more than PHP 146,000 in cash and returned it to authorities on Wednesday (19 Mar 2025).

Rhea Taysa discovered the bag on a gang chair in the arrival area and immediately turned it over to the Security and Intelligence Service for verification and safekeeping, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

Along with the cash, the bag contained a passport, identification cards, a driver’s license, and other valuables. The bag belonged to a 79-year-old female US national, who received it back the same day.

The grateful owner thanked Taysa and airport staff for their honesty. CAAP Director General Raul Del Rosario also commended the personnel for their dedication to integrity, professionalism, and public service.
