MANILA — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has initiated civil works for an extension building at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines – College of Engineering and Architecture (PUP-CEA) in Sta. Mesa, Manila.
DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, referring to a report from DPWH National Capital Region Director Loreta M. Malaluan, announced that a formal groundbreaking ceremony for the new four-story building project at PUP-Sta. Mesa Campus was recently conducted, marking the commencement of construction activities.
Director Malaluan stated that the modern building, covering an area of 477 square meters, will offer essential additional space and facilities for PUP-CEA students and faculty members.
“When completed, the extension campus will feature additional classrooms, a laboratory, a library, an audio-visual room, a faculty office, and larger function rooms, equipped with an air-conditioning system to create a more conducive learning environment for engineering and architecture students and faculty members,” explained Director Malaluan.
The new PUP-CEA building project, with a budget of P94.35 million, will be undertaken by DPWH NCR within a timeframe of 360 calendar days, or approximately a year.
