MANILA – National University (NU) secured a spot in the Shakey’s Super League (SSL) National Invitationals semifinals with a dominant 25-11, 25-12, 25-14 victory over the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) on Saturday (13 July 2024) at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Nataszha Bombita and Myrtle Escanlar led NU with nine points each, while Sheena Toring added seven attacks and three blocks. Mhicaela Belen and Arah Ella Panique contributed six points each, with Belen serving four aces.

“We need to improve our passing and blocking, and the chemistry between rookies and seniors,” NU coach Norman Miguel stated after the 78-minute match.

For USPF, Dya Hanica Mejos scored seven points, Checelle Kaye Buñao added five attacks, and Ressel Pedroza had four points.

NU will face Letran in the semifinals after the Lady Knights defeated the University of Batangas, 25-22, 25-10, 25-23. Gia Marcel Maquilang led Letran with 12 attacks, three aces, and one block, while Nizelle Aeriyen Martin and Lea Rizel Tapang added 10 and nine points respectively. Kylie Macatangay led Batangas with nine attacks and two aces.

The other semifinalists will be determined in matches between the University of Santo Tomas-Far Eastern University and the College of Saint Benilde-Enderun Colleges.
