MANILA — Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro announced that the Philippine government will continue to provide assistance to 17 Filipinos arrested in Qatar for participating in political rallies.
She responded to a media inquiry about whether the government would ensure the safety and well-being of the detained Filipinos in Qatar.
Castro confirmed that the government would continue supporting Filipinos detained in Qatar after their involvement in mass actions in support of the former president.
Castro emphasized that the government took immediate action upon learning of the arrests.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that 17 Filipinos are currently in police custody.
