MANILA — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. reaffirmed his commitment to protecting women’s rights and opposing any threats to their advancement as the nation celebrated International Women’s Day and National Women’s Month on Saturday (08 Mar 2025).

In a message, Marcos praised Filipino women for their resilience and strength, comparing their journey to that of the nation’s motherland, Inang Bayan. He highlighted their significant contributions throughout history, from the babaylans and Katipuneras to today’s frontliners, professionals, and visionary leaders.

“The Bagong Pilipinas we are building will always advocate for women’s rights and stand firmly against anything that hampers their progress,” he emphasized.

Marcos also promised continued government support for women’s empowerment, stressing that their roles are vital in shaping both the Philippines and the world. “Let us recognize the unshakeable force of women—those who nurture, persevere, and redefine the future,” he said.

March, designated as National Women’s Month, coincides with International Women’s Day, celebrated globally to honor women’s achievements and advance gender equality. In the Philippines, the observance aligns with various local and international frameworks, including the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and the Philippine Plan for Gender-Responsive Development (1995-2025).
