President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has expressed his gratitude to the United States government for providing emergency assistance to calamity victims in Mindanao.
Marcos conveyed his appreciation during a courtesy call in Malacañang with US Ambassador to the Philippines Marykay Loss Carlson.
“When you ask for assistance and it is needed, we are here. Teams from USAID, JUSMAG, and our team from INDOPACOM have been deployed… it’s impressive to see how your own DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) efficiently coordinates relief supplies,” Carlson remarked.
“There’s much that can be accomplished more efficiently through existing mechanisms… however, sometimes an extra push is needed, and it also showcases how effectively the alliance can deliver,” Carlson added.
In addition to providing C-130s, the US government has extended US$1.25 million in emergency support, Carlson noted, emphasizing that the successful delivery of much-needed aid underscores the value of the Philippine-US alliance.
