MANILA — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. formally introduced Friday (12 Jan 2024) Lipa Congressman Ralph Recto as the new Secretary of the Department of Finance during a ceremony held in Malacañang Palace.
“A gentleman who, I believe, needs little introduction, having been in public service since our days as young congressmen together—Secretary Ralph Recto for the Department of Finance,” Marcos stated.
Recto was also presented as the Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs, marking his initiation into the Marcos administration.
Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri expressed his approval of Recto’s appointment earlier, saying, “I do not doubt that he will excel as Finance Secretary, guiding the country towards greater economic prosperity.”
Recto assumes the role, succeeding Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno.
