FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – The Philippine Army, through its 9th Infantry Division, and the Australian Army have officially kicked off Exercise Kasangga 2024-2 at Camp Elias Angeles, San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur on October 14, 2024.

This marks the inaugural joint training exercise between the two nations’ ground forces in the Bicol Region.

A total of 266 participants, including 216 personnel from the Philippine Army and 50 Australian Army troops, will engage in the combined exercise from October 14 to November 8, 2024.

The exercise will focus on key operational areas such as urban warfare, close combat techniques, combat shooting, and tactical casualty care. Participants will also train in explosive assault breaching, cybersecurity operations, mortar gunnery, and will conduct Civil-Military Operations (CMO) exchanges.

Exercise Kasangga aims to enhance the operational skills and strengthen the interoperability of both armies in various combat functions. This follows the first iteration of Kasangga held by the 5th Infantry Division with Australian ground forces earlier this year, from May to June 2024.
