MANILA — The Philippine national women’s ice hockey team is gearing up to compete in the 2024 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Women’s Asia and Oceania Championship Division 1, set to take place in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
This eagerly anticipated event marks the team’s long-awaited return to the ice since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, with their last participation dating back to 2019.
In a recent exchange on Messenger with The Manila Times, the roster for the team was unveiled, comprising a talented lineup of skaters: Bianca Cuevas, Danielle Imperial, Cassia Marino, Kathleen Tan, Illeana Jimenez, Can Sanchez, Nikka Villanueva, Miki Aguirre, Rhianne Alix, Jodi Dino, Rangel Benitez, Kamil Cubillo, Rita Ceguerra, Georgie Regencia, Geddy Go, Eadrea Ham, Gaby Laysico, and Lou Cauyao, while Nicole Embalzado and Rosalyn Lim will don the goaltenders’ gear.
Leading the squad into the competition is forward Danielle Imperial, who has been entrusted with the role of team captain. Assisting her in leadership responsibilities are defenseman Rita Ceguerra and forward Bianca Cuevas, who will serve as her alternate.
