MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) has reaffirmed its readiness to assist the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) in implementing potential arrest warrants against individuals implicated in the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) probe into the Duterte administration’s war on drugs.

PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo stated that law enforcement authorities have already established a process following the recent arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

“We are aware that aside from the former president, others are also facing charges. Since an arrest has already been made, we now have a template to follow,” Fajardo said in a radio interview.

She emphasized that if the ICC issues additional warrants and seeks Interpol’s cooperation, the PNP is prepared to provide assistance in accordance with Philippine law.

The PNP, however, has not yet received information on any new warrants.

Duterte was arrested at the airport upon his return from Hong Kong on March 11 under an ICC-issued warrant, which was executed by Interpol Manila and the PNP. He was transported to The Hague, Netherlands, on March 12 and is now in the ICC Detention Center in Scheveningen.

Fajardo reiterated that the government ensured Duterte’s welfare, including medical assistance, from his arrest until his transfer to The Hague.

She also dismissed rumors circulating on social media about police officers resigning in support of Duterte, calling them “fake news.” She urged the public to be vigilant and discerning about unverified information online.
