MANILA – Rain showers will continue to affect several regions across the country due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and the easterlies, the weather bureau announced on Thursday (04 July 2024).

The ITCZ, currently influencing Palawan, is expected to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to the province.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned that these conditions may lead to moderate to heavy rainfall, potentially causing flash floods or landslides, as noted in their 4 a.m. bulletin.

The easterlies are impacting the eastern sections of the country, bringing isolated rain showers and thunderstorms to Caraga, the Davao Region, Eastern Visayas, Cagayan Valley, the Bicol Region, Aurora, and Quezon.

PAGASA indicated that these areas could also experience moderate to heavy rains and severe thunderstorms, which pose risks of flash floods and landslides.

Elsewhere in the country, localized thunderstorms are expected to bring isolated rain showers. Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will prevail across the archipelago.

As of now, no tropical cyclones are expected to impact the country, according to PAGASA forecaster Aldczar Aurelio.

The ITCZ is anticipated to remain the dominant weather system from Friday to Saturday, potentially affecting the Visayas, Mindanao, and Southern Luzon, Aurelio added.
