MANILA – The southwest monsoon is causing widespread rain across the Philippines, the weather bureau reported on Wednesday (19 June 2024).
Palawan and Mindanao will experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, with a risk of flash floods and landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in its 4 a.m. bulletin.
Other regions, including Metro Manila, Western Visayas, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and the rest of Mimaropa, can expect isolated showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said that the southwest monsoon will persist until Friday, leading to scattered rains and thunderstorms across much of the country over the next three days.
No significant weather disturbances are expected during this period.
Localized thunderstorms will bring isolated showers to the rest of the country, with a potential for severe thunderstorms causing flash floods or landslides.
The archipelago will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
