MANILA – Northern Luzon remains under the grip of rainy weather as several areas continue to experience showers and thunderstorms, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported on Thursday (05 Dec 2024).

The shear line, currently affecting the eastern section of Northern Luzon, is expected to bring scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms across the Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Norte, and Cagayan Valley.

Moderate to heavy rains are particularly forecast for Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, and Kalinga, prompting PAGASA to issue warnings for potential flash floods and landslides in these areas. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and follow local authorities’ advisories.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon (amihan) will continue to influence weather conditions in extreme Northern Luzon, bringing light rains to Batanes.

For the rest of the country, isolated rain showers and thunderstorms caused by localized weather systems are expected.

In terms of sea conditions, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Northern Luzon, making maritime travel risky in these areas. In other regions, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, according to PAGASA.

As the rains persist, residents are reminded to stay updated on the latest weather advisories and prepare for possible disruptions caused by flooding or landslides.
