MANILA — On the anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal’s martyrdom, House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez urged Filipinos to honor the national hero’s sacrifices and draw inspiration from his life in pursuit of unity and progress.
“Let us not only remember Rizal’s sacrifice but also strive to embody his ideals. Let us serve as light to one another, fostering unity and harmony for a prosperous future,” Speaker Romualdez said.
The leader of the 307-member House of Representatives emphasized Rizal’s lasting legacy as a guiding light for the nation, exemplified by his selfless patriotism and ultimate sacrifice to free Filipinos from colonial rule.
“True love for our country is shown not just in words but through actions that pave the way for a better and more progressive future,” he added.
Romualdez pointed out that Rizal’s heroism lives on in Filipinos who tirelessly work for the nation’s upliftment.
“Whether in education, science, governance, or public service, Rizal’s influence can be seen in the dedication of Filipinos who strive for the betterment of all,” he noted.
The Speaker also highlighted that Rizal’s vision of a nation founded on education, equality, and freedom aligns with the legislative agenda of the House of Representatives.
“Rizal’s ideals of patriotism, courage, and commitment to the people inspire and guide us as we navigate the challenges of our time,” Romualdez said. He added that Rizal’s emphasis on education and compassion remains a cornerstone for building a democratic and progressive society.
