MANILA – Several regions in the country are expected to experience rainy weather on Thursday (17 Oct 2024) due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The ITCZ will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms to areas in the Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao Occidental, Sarangani, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and Palawan.
Additionally, isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are forecast over the rest of Soccsksargen, BARMM, and Davao Region. PAGASA warns that flash floods or landslides may occur during periods of moderate to heavy rains and severe thunderstorms in these areas.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country can expect isolated rain showers brought by the easterlies and localized thunderstorms. Winds will remain light to moderate, with seas generally calm to moderate.
PAGASA also noted that no low-pressure area (LPA) is currently being monitored for possible tropical cyclone development.
