MANILA – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has forecasted continued rainfall across various parts of the country due to the shear line and the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, on Wednesday (08 Jan 2025).

According to PAGASA’s 5 a.m. bulletin, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected in the Visayas, Bicol Region, Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, and Dinagat Islands due to the shear line. Areas experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall include Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, and Southern Leyte.

The agency warns of localized flooding, especially in urbanized and low-lying areas, and potential landslides in susceptible regions.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies and rain to Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and Central Luzon. Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, and the rest of Calabarzon will experience partly cloudy skies with isolated light rain.

The rest of the country will also see partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with scattered rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized weather systems.

Coastal waters in the northern and eastern parts of Luzon will be rough due to strong northeast winds, while moderate to rough seas are expected along the eastern Visayas coast due to moderate to strong northeast winds.
