MANILA — Senator Nancy Binay revealed that the ‘Magic 7’, now referred to as the ‘Solid 7’, is contemplating whether to join the minority.
The Solid 7 comprises Senators Migz Zubiri, JV Ejercito, Sonny Angara, Loren Legarda, Joel Villanueva, Win Gatchalian, and Binay.
“In regards to the plan of the Solid 7, at the moment we are still considering whether to join the minority. So that is still an option for us,” Binay said in a radio interview on Thursday, May 23.
The minority currently consists of Senators Koko Pimentel III and Risa Hontiveros.
The Solid 7 was formed after the change of leadership in the Senate, which is now headed by Senate President Chiz Escudero.
Meanwhile, Binay expressed confusion as the Senate filed a resolution honoring former Senate President Zubiri, former Senate President Pro Tempore Legarda, and former Majority Leader Villanueva.
“Just the other day, they were removed from their positions, and now, yesterday, they are being praised. So, for all of us, if you think they performed their duties well, why were they removed?” Binay said.
