MANILA — Realizing the gravity of the charges against Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) chairman Vicente “Tito” Sotto was left with no choice but to ax her from the political party.

Last June 17, Tarlac Gov. Susan Yap, NPC provincial chairperson, recommended to Sotto III the expulsion of Guo from their party due to questions surrounding her nationality and the trafficking crimes linked to her.

“I hereby order the removal of Mayor Alice Guo from the roster of members of the Nationalist People’s Coalition,” Sotto III said in a letter dated June 22.

“In view thereof, I will be directing our Secretary General, Sec. Mark Llandro Mendoza to implement the said order and immediately inform Mayor Guo of her removal from the party,” the former Senate President added.

The embattled Guo ran as an independent in the 2022 polls but has since joined the NPC, which has allied with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.
