MANILA — Senate President Chiz Escudero expressed that Vice President Sara Duterte’s recent statements are “deeply concerning,” noting her position as the second-highest official in the country.
Escudero emphasized that Duterte should set a good example for her fellow citizens.
“The Vice President and her allies must consider how her actions have contributed to rising tensions. I call on all parties involved to de-escalate the situation to prevent further harm to the safety, health, and well-being of everyone involved,” the Senate President said.
“I urge those close to her—those who genuinely care about her as a person and a leader—to advise her to refrain from making these indecorous and possibly criminal statements in public. These do not benefit the Vice President, her office, or our country,” he added.
He further urged the Vice President to reflect on her recent actions and words to determine if her statements align with this standard.
On Friday night, Duterte streamed a video in which she used foul language directed at President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
