MANILA — Senate President Chiz Escudero has opted not to comment on Vice President Sara Duterte’s statement regarding her father’s potential return to the country.

“I don’t want to comment on any speculation because the very idea of his return is a big question. She also mentioned in the same interview that he wouldn’t be able to come back, but now she’s warning him if he does,” Escudero said.

“I don’t want to comment on conflicting opinions,” he added.

Earlier, Duterte warned her father that returning to the Philippines might result in a fate similar to that of Ninoy Aquino.

“He wants to come home, and I also told him, ‘Dad, your desire to return is also your end. You’ll become Ninoy Aquino Jr.,'” she said.
