The Philippines can expect isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms, according to the weather bureau’s forecast Thursday.
The northeast monsoon, known as “amihan,” will bring about isolated light rainfall in areas such as the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon.
Patrick del Mundo, a forecaster from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), mentioned that Metro Manila and other parts of the country should anticipate sporadic rain showers, primarily in the afternoon or evening.
In Northern Luzon, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will persist. In other regions, winds will be light to moderate, and seas will be slight to moderate.
Del Mundo also noted that the cloud clusters located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility have a low probability of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next few hours.

Expect rain showers across the Philippines today, Wednesday (25 Oct 2023) as a result of the prevailing weather conditions.
According to the 4 a.m. report from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the northeast monsoon, also known as ‘amihan,’ and a shear line will be influencing the weather today.
A shear line is a narrow corridor along which there is an abrupt change in the horizontal component of the wind.
Mainland areas such as Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Northern Quezon should anticipate overcast skies with intermittent rain showers and thunderstorms, primarily due to the presence of the shear line.
Batanes and Babuyan Islands, on the other hand, are likely to experience cloudy conditions with rain. In the Ilocos and Cordillera regions and the rest of Cagayan Valley, expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional light rain due to the northeast monsoon.
Metro Manila and other parts of the country can expect partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with the possibility of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, mainly attributed to localized thunderstorms.
Here are the expected temperature ranges for today:
Metro Manila: 24°C to 30°C
Baguio City: 17°C to 24°C
Laoag City: 24°C to 32°C
Legazpi City: 25°C to 32°C
Metro Cebu: 25°C to 32°C
Puerto Princesa City: 25°C to 31°C
Metro Davao: 24°C to 33°C.”

The northeast monsoon and a shear line are expected to bring rain showers to many parts of Luzon, according to the latest report from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
As per the 4 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA anticipates moderate to heavy rainfall in the remaining areas of Cagayan Valley due to the northeast monsoon. This weather pattern may lead to potential flooding and landslides in these regions.
Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, resulting from the shear line, are expected to affect Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Region 4-A (Calabarzon), Bicol Region, Isabela, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya.
In the Cordillera Administrative Region and Ilocos Region, the northeast monsoon will bring lighter rain showers.
The rest of the country should anticipate isolated rain showers brought about by localized thunderstorms.
Northern Luzon is likely to experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas, while other areas should expect lighter to moderate winds and slight to moderate sea conditions, according to PAGASA’s most recent forecast.
In its weather advisory No. 4 issued on Sunday, PAGASA also highlighted the shear line’s potential to bring a substantial amount of rainfall to Quezon and Camarines Norte over the next two days.

MANILA — The Philippines is set to encounter variable weather conditions Sunday (22 Oct 2023) as a result of a weather phenomenon known as the shear line and the northeast monsoon, locally referred to as “amihan.”
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has provided the following weather forecast for the next 24 hours:
Most parts of Luzon will observe overcast skies accompanied by rainfall due to the combined influence of the shear line and the amihan.
Northern Luzon, particularly Kalinga Apayao and Cagayan Valley, is expected to experience cloudy conditions with rainfall primarily attributed to the amihan.
The amihan will also bring cloudy skies with light rain to the Ilocos Region and the remaining areas of the Cordillera Administrative Region.
Metro Manila, Camarines Norte, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon are likely to witness cloudy skies with intermittent rain showers and thunderstorms, resulting from the shear line—a meteorological pattern formed when contrasting cold and warm air masses converge.
Due to these weather conditions, PAGASA has issued warnings of potential flooding and landslides, especially in areas that are highly susceptible to these natural hazards.
Northern Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast to the east, with moderate to rough sea conditions.
In contrast, the rest of the country can expect light to moderate winds from the northeast to the east, along with slight to moderate sea conditions.
Temperature-wise, the range is expected to fall between 24.8°C and 27.1°C.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) predicts generally fair weather to dominate most areas of the country, today, Tuesday (17 Oct 2023) according to one of its forecasters.
Grace Castañeda of PAGASA stated, “The low-pressure area (LPA) situated west of Luzon, beyond the Philippine Area of Responsibility, is no longer influencing rainfall in any part of the nation.”
Rains are expected in Batanes, Cagayan, and Isabela due to the northeasterly surface wind flow, with the potential for moderate to heavy precipitation, raising concerns about flash floods and landslides.
Castañeda also mentioned, “The remaining regions of the country can expect generally fair weather, occasionally interrupted by localized thunderstorms.”
Furthermore, the forecast calls for moderate to strong winds and moderately rough seas to persist in northern and central Luzon. In contrast, winds are expected to be light to moderate elsewhere, with seas ranging from slight to moderate. (ai/mnm)
Two weather systems will usher in rain showers across various regions of the Philippines, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
These weather systems consist of the northeasterly surface wind flow affecting extreme Northern Luzon and the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA).
The LPA, which was last observed approximately 980 kilometers west of Central Luzon, is not anticipated to impact the country as it moves toward mainland Asia, as Obet Badrina of PAGASA explained.
Nevertheless, PAGASA has predicted that the LPA’s trough will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan.
This could result in moderate to heavy rains that may lead to flash floods and landslides.
In other areas, isolated light rains are expected in Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, and Apayao due to the influence of the northeasterly surface wind flow. The rest of the country can anticipate isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas are expected in Northern and Central Luzon, with no gale warning issued.
In other areas, winds will be light to moderate, and seas will range from slight to moderate, as per PAGASA’s report.

MANILA – According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), most regions of the Philippines will enjoy generally fair weather over the next 24 hours.
In its 4 a.m. update, the weather agency reported that a low-pressure area has moved out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). Consequently, only Palawan is expected to witness scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by its trough.
Provinces including Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, and Abra will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeasterly surface wind flow.
Metro Manila, rest of the country
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country are also set to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, attributed to the northeasterly surface wind flow and localized thunderstorms.
Throughout the day, the entire nation will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.

MANILA – A low-pressure area (LPA) that formed early Thursday, located approximately 135 km west of Coron, Palawan, is forecasted to bring rain to various regions of the Philippines, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The presence of this LPA is anticipated to result in scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Mimaropa, Quezon, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar, as stated by forecaster Patrick del Mundo in PAGASA’s 5 a.m. weather bulletin.
In areas affected by moderate to heavy rainfall, there is a potential risk of flash floods and landslides.
Del Mundo further noted that both the new LPA and another one, located 860 km east of Eastern Visayas, have a low likelihood of intensifying into a tropical cyclone.
The new LPA is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by this weekend, Del Mundo added.
Meanwhile, the remainder of the country is expected to experience isolated rain showers attributed to localized thunderstorms.
Overall, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate sea conditions will prevail throughout the archipelago. (ai/mnm)
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that a low-pressure area (LPA) located 750 km east off Guiuan, Eastern Samar is expected to bring scattered rain over most parts of the Philippines.
According to the state weather bureau’ 4 a.m. bulletin on October 11, 2023, Metro Manila, the Visayas, Mindanao, Bicol Region, Mimaropa, and Calabarzon should anticipate cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
The rest of Luzon can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
The entire country will experience light to moderate wind conditions and slight to moderate seas.
PAGASA is also keeping an eye on Typhoon Bolaven, which is currently outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

MANILA – The Philippine weather bureau has reported that a low-pressure area (LPA), previously located 1,415 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, may potentially move into the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in the next 24 to 48 hours.
“While the likelihood of it developing into a tropical cyclone within this timeframe is low, its associated weather system is anticipated to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, and Central Visayas,” shared Obet Badrina of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Moderate to heavy rainfall in these regions could lead to flash floods and landslides.
Badrina also clarified that Typhoon Koinu (formerly known as Jenny) is currently not affecting the Philippines, and there is no expectation for Severe Tropical Storm Bolaven to enter the area.
For the rest of the country, isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms are possible.
“Expect these brief rain episodes, lasting one to two hours, mainly in the afternoon or evening,” Badrina added.
Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate sea conditions are expected to prevail across the archipelago.
