MINNESOTA — Nickeil Alexander-Walker made two free throws with 0.1 seconds left in double overtime, lifting the Minnesota Timberwolves past the Denver Nuggets 140-139.

Minnesota trailed by one with 17.7 seconds remaining when Russell Westbrook stole a pass from Anthony Edwards but missed a layup. The Timberwolves quickly got the ball to Alexander-Walker, who was fouled by Westbrook on a 3-point attempt.

Alexander-Walker sank the first two free throws, securing the win and overshadowing Nikola Jokic’s career-high 61 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. Jokic’s 61 points marked the highest single-game total of the season.

Edwards contributed 34 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists, while Alexander-Walker and Julius Randle each had 26 points. Rudy Gobert added 19 points and 12 rebounds.

The Timberwolves (44-32) won their third straight, despite missing Donte DiVincenzo and Naz Reid, who were serving suspensions. Denver (47-29) played without Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr.

Aaron Gordon scored 30 points, and Christian Braun added 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Nuggets.
