MANILA – The prevailing northeast monsoon, known as “amihan,” is set to usher in cloudy skies and isolated rains over Northern and Central Luzon, while other regions can expect partly cloudy conditions with occasional rain showers, according to the latest update from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released on Friday (01 Dec 2023).

In its 4 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA highlighted that Aurora, Isabela, Apayao, Batanes, and Cagayan, including Babuyan Islands, will encounter cloudy skies accompanied by rainfall attributed to the influence of the northeast monsoon.

The weather bureau issued a cautionary note about the potential for flash floods or landslides in these areas, particularly during moderate to heavy rainfall.

The northeast monsoon is also anticipated to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, the remaining parts of Central Luzon, the Cordillera region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and other parts of the country are forecasted to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies or localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned that severe thunderstorms could result in flash floods or landslides in susceptible areas.

Luzon is expected to experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters, while the Visayas and Mindanao will encounter light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.

Temperature variations across key cities are projected as follows: Metro Manila, 25°C to 33°C; Baguio City, 17°C to 25°C; Laoag City, 26°C to 33°C; Legazpi City, 25°C to 32°C; Metro Cebu, 27°C to 32°C; Puerto Princesa City, 25°C to 32°C; and Metro Davao, 25°C to 33°C.
