MANILA – The low-pressure area (LPA) southwest of Puerto Princesa City in Palawan province is unlikely to evolve into a tropical cyclone in the coming days, as reported by the weather bureau on Thursday.
“There’s also a high probability that it will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility within the day,” stated Patrick del Mundo, a forecaster from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The LPA, currently located 395 kilometers west-southwest of Puerto Princesa, is expected to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Palawan. In these areas, moderate to heavy rains could lead to potential flash floods and landslides.
Conversely, light rain showers are anticipated over Batanes and Cagayan, including the Babuyan Islands, due to the northeast monsoon.
The rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will persist over Northern Luzon.
In other regions, winds are forecasted to be light to moderate, accompanied by slight to moderate seas.
