MANILA – The Soccsksargen region is set to experience overcast conditions accompanied by scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, courtesy of the trough associated with a low-pressure area (LPA) located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), as reported by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday (21 Jan 2024.
PAGASA said the LPA has a slim chance of intensifying into a tropical storm and is not anticipated to enter the PAR.
Despite the low probability of development, the weather bureau issued a caution to residents in Soccsksargen, encompassing the provinces of South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City, urging them to stay vigilant against potential flash floods or landslides resulting from moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies, accompanied by isolated light rains attributed to the northeast monsoon or “amihan.”
Metro Manila
Metro Manila and other parts of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, owing to localized atmospheric disturbances.
In terms of wind patterns, Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao are expected to encounter strong east-to-northeast winds, leading to rough coastal waters.
For the rest of the country, moderate to strong east to northeast winds are forecast, accompanied by moderate to rough seas.
Temperature-wise, the range is expected to be between 22.5 °C and 30.4 °C.
