MANILA — The Valenzuela Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 282 has granted permission for dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo to attend the Senate hearing on September 17.

“Acting on the letter request from the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, and recognizing the Senate’s power to conduct inquiries in aid of legislation, the accused Alice Guo, a.k.a. Guo Hua Ping, is hereby allowed to attend the joint public hearing of the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality on September 17, 2024, at 9:00 a.m.,” read the order signed by Presiding Judge Elena Amigo-Amano.

This follows a letter from Committee Chair Senator Risa Hontiveros requesting Guo’s presence during the Senate investigation.

This will be Guo’s second Senate appearance since her capture in Indonesia.

The Court also directed the Philippine National Police Headquarters Support Service to provide strict security measures and to escort Guo to the Senate.

Guo’s graft cases were recently transferred from the Capas, Tarlac RTC to the Valenzuela RTC.
