MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has appointed Vivencio “Vince” Dizon as the new Secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), effective February 21, 2025.

Malacañang announced the appointment Thursday (13 Feb 2025), confirming that Dizon will succeed Jaime Bautista, who is stepping down for health reasons.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin shared that Dizon is authorized to begin the transition process in coordination with Secretary Bautista’s team.

Dizon, who previously served as the head of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) under former President Duterte, played a significant role in the success of the “Build, Build, Build” infrastructure program. His leadership also extended to national health initiatives as former presidential adviser and deputy chief implementer of the National Action Plan Against Covid-19.

His career spans various roles, including consultant to Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, Undersecretary for Political Affairs, and Chief of Staff to Senator Edgardo Angara. Dizon also held a vice president position at Strategic Alliance Holdings Inc. from 2007 to 2011.
