MANILA — Speaker Martin Romualdez said Thursday (21 Nov 2024) President Sara Duterte-Carpio should attend the House of Representatives’ hearing on confidential funds.
Romualdez made the statement in response to Duterte’s recent remark that her biggest challenge is that her employees are being dragged into the House probe.
“Dapat lang siyang sumipot, mag-oath, magsalita, at mag-eksplika,” Romualdez said.
“Siya lang yata ang may alam kung anong nangyayari sa mga pondo, kaya siya ang dapat mag-eksplika. Huwag na lang niyang ibigay sa mga officials ng OVP o ng DepEd,” he added.
The House Committee on Good Governance and Public Accountability has been conducting hearings on the funds of the Office of the Vice President.
In a letter, Duterte previously informed the committee: “In view of the foregoing, I would like to respectfully inform you that I will not be attending the hearing scheduled for 20 November 2024.”
“In lieu of my attendance, I request that this letter be integrated and made part of the official records of the Committee,” she added.
